Love music but hate wires? Mr C has been testing the SoundPEATS Q16 Wireless Earphones for over a week. These are the active/sports earphones which complements the range that includes the Q29 that we tested a few months ago.
These wireless earphones comes in a small protective case. There is also a Y-shaped USB charging cable so both earphones can be charged simultaneously, three pairs of ear tips (S/M/L) and instructions. It was very well packaged and would make a great gift.
Mr C managed to connect to his Samsung Note 3 first time. While it pairs, the voice prompt announces “pairing”. You can use these in stereo or mono mode, the latter is useful if you want to share the earphones with someone or perhaps you want to use it as a Bluetooth headset to make calls while driving for example.
The sound quality of these earphones are very good; well-rounded with sufficient bass to give your digital media appreciable depth. This is helped by the sound isolation that helps block out background noise.
As these earphones are designed for an active fit, Mr C decided to go for a run with them. The ear hooks provided a secure fit and they stayed on comfortably throughout his run. Actually, the fit in general is comfortable and he could wear them for long periods without any discomfort. Similar to the Q29 earphones, there would be a slight audio lag when watching videos with these Q16 earphones (tested with BBC iPlayer, Netflix and YouTube). However, this is probably due to his phone being quite old as I don’t experience any lag with my iPad Pro.
