Sherlock Holmes Puzzle Case is a fun quiz game where the questions take the form of puzzles in conversations between Sherlock Holmes and Doctor Watson. It comes in a small, well-presented box which contains 120 puzzle cards in four difficulty levels, a book of rules & solutions, a notebook, 6 Sherlock cards, 6 Moriarty cards, 12 complete checklist cards and a timer.
This puzzle game can be played alone, with up to 6 people or as a team competition. Setting up the game is fairly straightforward. First shuffle the four decks of Case cards and place them in four piles face down. Each player takes a Sherlock card and a Moriarty card. Players then chooses a Case card from one of the four piles. Pick a level (Elementary, Straightforward, Cunning and Fiendish) that you think you can handle. You score more points for the more difficult cases. Read out the text and start your timer. Answer before the times run out.
To play the Sherlock card, you only get one chance to use this card to earn double the normal points if you answer it correctly. To play the Moriarty card, you can play it after another player chooses a Case card. If the player fails to solve the case, you add the points for the case to your own score as if you had solved it yourself. The first person who score 20 (which you can vary) points wins the game.
This is a very interesting and fun game to play as an individual or a team. We had a lot of fun trying to think outside the box to win this game. Some are very tricky answers and some are very easy. I love that we all have to tax our brain on individual cases. I would definitely recommend this puzzle game to any crime solving fans! You can buy this puzzle case from Carlton Books.
