Mr Bucket Game Review

20 July 2017 by Eileen

Mr Bucket is the original, racing, chase the bucket game that is suitable for two to four players and aged four and above! This is a fast paced game that requires plenty of space to play. It comes with an easy to assemble bucket, four shovels, 12 balls and instructions. It requires three AA batteries.

This game requires simple assembly which only took me a couple of minutes to do and it is also very easy to disassemble to pack away into the original box. The aim of the game is to race to be the first to scoop up all of the balls of your colour as Mr Bucket moves around the floor. Be quick otherwise Mr Bucket will shoot them out again. This game is best to play on a hard floor in a play area of at least 2 x 2 metres and avoid carpeted areas.

Before you start the game, place the coloured balls randomly on the floor within a 1 metre radius of Mr Bucket. If you are playing with less than four players, place unused shovels and balls back in the box. When everyone is ready, switch on Mr Bucket and place him on the floor. Each player has to try to scoop up a ball that matches the colour of their shovels and drop it into Mr Bucket. Players must not use their hands to pick up the ball and can only use the shovels to pick their own coloured balls. The first person who manages to get all three of their coloured balls inside Mr Bucket must quickly lift Mr Bucket by his handle, which stops him from popping out any more balls to be the winner.

Both my children and their friends love to chase Mr Bucket and it can be quite chaotic. This is quite a physical game; besides having to run around to chase after the ball, it is also great for fine motor skills. I do think this game would suit children around the age of four to six. They would have more fun than older children. Mr Bucket is very well made and should last for a long time.
