Today, Star Wars is celebrating their 40th anniversary. Star Wars has captured the hearts of millions with iconic characters, impressive robots, and stories that have impressed everyone over and over again.
To be honest, I had never been interested in Star Wars before I met Mr C. He is such a big fan that he managed to get me hooked into these amazing Star Wars stories from galaxies far, far away! It has become a regular tradition for us and some friends to make a Christmas date to go to the cinema to watch it together. We are so grateful that through blogging, we have been able to work with a lot of companies with Star Wars merchandise, especially Egmont UK Ltd, which has enabled us to widen our Star Wars knowledge. Now we are passing on our Star Wars knowledge to Mr K.
This month, we were pleased to introduce even more new Star Wars books to Mr K especially the Star Wars: A New Hope junior novel as this is their 40th Anniversary title! We have also received other junior novels: The Empire Strikes Back, Return of the Jedi and The Force Awakens, and Star Wars Galactic Atlas.
Star Wars: A New Hope Junior Novel
This is about the period of civil war where Rebel spaceships, striking from a hidden base, have won their first victory against the evil Galactic Empire.
This was the first story in the saga even though it was the fourth episode. In this book, you will discover the iconic characters Luke Skywalker, Han Solo and Princess Leia! My nine year old finds this book easy to read and understand especially having watched the movie.
The Junior Novel book range is suitable for aged eight and above. We love that they have the colour coded lightsaber on the front cover which corresponds to the very distinctive page edging colour too.
The book is split into 15 chapters which makes it easy for children to pause when they have to. The story takes you into the characters’ conversations and allows children to absorb themselves into each character. Overall they have simplify the story but still contains plenty of good detail. It is available in good book stores and Amazon.
Star Wars: The Empire Strikes Back Junior Novel
This is the fifth episode of the saga. It is a dark time for the Rebellion. Although the Death Star has been destroyed, Imperial troops have driven the Rebel forces from their hidden base and pursed them across the galaxy. The evil lord Darth Vader is on a mission to find Luke Skywalker and will not rest until he finds him.
The book is split into 19 small chapters that make it easy to pause and takes you into the characters’ conversation. Overall my son enjoy this book. It is available in good book stores and Amazon.
Star Wars: Return of the Jedi Junior Novel
This is the sixth episode of the saga or the last episode of the initial trilogy. This continues the story from Empire Strikes Back where Luke Skywalker has returned to his home planet of Tatooine in an attempt to rescue his friend Han Solo from the clutches of the vile gangster Jabba the Hutt. Little does Skywalker know that the Galactic Empire has started construction on a new space station more powerful than the first Death Star.
The book is split into 14 small chapters. The storyline climaxes with a bang. Many fans of the movie will know that in this story Han falls in love with Leia and they kiss. However, in this child friendly junior novel, they embrace. It is available in good book stores and Amazon.
Star Wars: The Force Awakens Junior Novel
This story is one we have been waiting for such a long time. It is the seventh episode in the saga. Luke Skywalker has vanished. In his absence, the sinister FIRST ORDER has risen from the ashes of the Empire and will not rest until Skywalker, the last Jedi, has been destroyed. In this story, they introduce new characters like Rey, Finn, Ren, BB8 and many more.
The book is split into 21 chapters. It gives a great description on how Luke’s lightsaber reaches out to Rey from the vault. Again another great book to read. It is available in good book stores and Amazon.
Star Wars Galactic Atlas
This stunning atlas covers everything from Endor and Naboo to Tatooine and Yavin 4, taking in the epic stories, strange creatures and glorious vistas of a galaxy far, far away. We love the illustrations in glorious full colour but I do find the wordings are little on the small side for my liking.
The atlas also contains a useful timeline that describes the period of history covered in these maps, from the Clone Wars between the Republic and the Separatists, to the Galactic Civil War between the Empire and the Rebel Alliance, and beyond.
There are dozens of maps including Rogue One, star charts, character profiles and a timeline of the entire saga. It is the perfect guide for fans! It is available in good book stores and Amazon.
