Poochy & Yoshi’s Woolly World for 3DS Review

10 February 2017 by Eileen Leave a Comment

Poochy & Yoshi’s Woolly World for Nintendo 3DS launched on the 3rd February 2017, allowing players to embark on a new world made from yarn, cloth and textiles. This one player game was first launched exclusively for Wii U but now you can take control of Yoshi and Poochy in this cute, colourful, and cuddly platformer on the go with 3DS.

Ms C was so excited when I first told her that this game was coming out for 3DS that she has been going on YouTube to watch and learn all the tricks from the gamers. She even managed to tell Mr K where to find the yarns, gems, sunflowers and many more.

Did you know that you can design up to 10 personalized Craft Yoshi and share them via the Miiverse? Also, you can find new yarn patterns and complete levels, then visit the Yoshi Hut to switch your style.

There are two modes to play: Mellow or Classic Mode. Mr K prefers the classic mode as he prefers to look out for the gems himself than summon the Poochy Pups who will help sniff out anything you may have missed in mellow mode. The pups also provide Yoshi with unlimited yarn balls in mellow mode as well, a handy switch when you’re in a tight spot.

Poochy bounds into the spotlight! Yoshi’s canine friend is now playable in new exclusive stages, which see him attempt to collect as many gems as possible while he dashes to the exit.

So far both of my children have completed two worlds and they still have plenty more fun-filled levels to play. They both enjoy the game as there is no time limit for them to explore and discover the world, and there are plenty of collectibles to seek out. My daughter often finds it hard to complete the level and will ask Mr K to help her out. Mr K on the other hand who has never played this on the Wii U before, was able to complete the levels with ease. They both love playing this cute game and amazingly, they will take it in turns to play. I would highly recommend it.

This Poochy & Yoshi’s Woolly World game is compatible with amiibo and there is a cute new addition with the Poochy amiibo! When Poochy is tapped in, he can accompany Yoshi for adventures at any time. Scan a Yarn Poochy amiibo during a Poochy Dash course to unlock new Time Attack missions and complete all the missions to unlock new Poochy designs.

There are even more Yarn Yoshi patterns to enjoy thanks to increased amiibo compatibility! Make use of all the compatible amiibo from Yoshi’s Woolly World (Wii U), as well as brand new designs that can be activated by tapping in Animal Crossing Collection and Splatoon Collection amiibo.
