How to build a Pikachu Pet Bed for your pet!

5 December 2016 by Eileen

How to build a Pikachu Pet Bed for your pet! This week, we have been busily involved in the Energizer® Secret Life of Pets challenge to build our own ultimate pet bed for our cuddly pets! Both my children are mad about Pokémon so we decided to build Pokémon theme pet beds for our little furry friends – Gidget and Duke.

If your children love the characters from the Secret Life of Pets, you could pick up a special promo Energizer Max® or Eco AdvancedTM batteries pack from major participating retailers for a chance to win a plush toy! There are 4 different character toys up for grabs – Max, Duke, Gidget and Snowball. All you need is to scan your receipt and upload to the website to enter. There are 500 soft toys to win every week. The competition closes on 31st January 2017.

We were sent a box of craft goodies and this Energizer® Magnet Light that has a remarkably strong magnetic closure and holds the LED light securely in place to keep your hands free. The durable silicone construction protects it from water. It comes in three stylish colours – Green, Blue and Pink. It includes two Energizer® CR2032 coin cell batteries. Energizer® is powering family time with a range of batteries and headlamps ready for your very own adventures, even in the front room! Do check out their wide range of products!

My children and I decided to split into two teams to make our own Pokémon theme pet bed. I decided to make a Pikachu Pet Bed whilst my children were making a Pokémon Ultra Ball with Raichu.

If you not sure who this cute Pikachu is, he is a short, chubby rodent Pokémon. He is covered in yellow fur with two horizontal brown stripes on his back. He has a small mouth, long, pointed ears with black tips, brown eyes, and two red circles on its cheeks. There are pouches inside his cheeks where he stores electricity. He has short forearms with five fingers on each paw, and his feet each have three toes.

Pikachu Pet Bed

To make this Pikachu Pet Bed, you will need:

  • Thick yellow foam/yellow cardboard
  • Small cardboard box
  • Yellow, black and red paper
  • Jewel stickers
  • A4 transparent sheet
  • White and red Duck Tape
  • Scissors and pen knife
  • Glue sticks
  • Clear tape and double-sided tape
  • Pokémon stickers
  • Maker pen
  • Toothpicks

Method:

  1. Draw outline of Pikachu on the yellow foam and then cut it out. Then use the spare foam to cut out his tail.
  2. Cut a circle on the front of the box. This is the pet entrance.
  3. Decorate/stick the inside of the box with yellow papers and jewels stickers.

  5. Decorate the whole box with white and red Duck Tape. Then stick the Pokémon stickers on the box.

  6. Place Pikachu on the box. I used double-sided tape here.
  7. Then add Pikachu’s eyes, mouth and cheeks on the foam using the double-sided tape. Use the toothpicks to secure the tail to the body. pikachu pet bed tail
  8. Draw the outline of Pikachu using the black marker pen.

This is how I made this for our lovely Gidget! Now you can add the Energizer® Magnet Light on the top of the roof or inside her bed to give her a reading light! Or you could add fairy lights around it!
