Kärcher Rain Box Review

13 July 2015 by Eileen

No time to water your plants or going away this summer? Kärcher Rain Box is the ideal starter kit for efficient, economical and needs-based garden watering. Along with Kärcher’s range of timer control units, it help you to water, even when you are away.

Kärcher rain box review

I was sent the Kärcher Rain Box which is a great starter kit to set up a simple rain system. Inside this box, it comes with:

  • G1 tap connector with G3/4 reduction piece (for the tap)
  • 2 couplings
  • 1 filter/Pressure Reducer
  • 15 m Kärcher Rain System hose
  • 10 m soaker hose
  • 4 T-connectors
  • 4 I-connectors
  • 10 drip collars
  • 5 stop ends
  • 5 ground spikes
  • Yellow tray

Before I set up the rain system, I did a quick drawing to plan and work out how many accessories I needed for my flower bed. The whole system is straightforward to set up. All you need is a good pair of scissors to cut the hose.

In my video, I have demonstrated how I connected the whole rain system together but I did not use the T-connectors as it is not required for my garden. https://youtu.be/wDyQhe54nmI

This comes with a G1 tap connector which connects straight to your tap. If your tap has a small output, then use the G3/4 reduction piece. Next connect the yellow coupling with a desirable length of Rain System hose before connecting to the G1 tap connector. This step can be omitted if you already have a water pipe system in place.

Next connect the sealing collar coupling (yellow and black) to the end of the Rain System hose. Now you are ready to connect your filter/pressure reducer.

In my rain system, I have used the drip collar to spray water around the tree. The drip collar comes with a sharp spike that pierces into the Rain System hose. You are able to regulate the amount of water by turning the grey knob.

To secure the rain system, there are 5 ground spikes included. Simply place the hose into the gap and seal it with the rubber ring provided.

I have also used the soaker hose which drips evenly over the entire length and closed it with the stop end. I find this especially useful to hide the entire hose neatly inside my row of overgrown lavenders. You can hardly see the hose!

Overall this is easy to step up with no fuss. The hose is easy to cut with heavy duty scissors. Once connected, your rain system is ready to go. The Kärcher Rain System runs with up to 4 bar pressure, can be individually adapted to every garden and works perfectly with the SensoTimer for need-orientated watering control. I like the idea of that, tempted to buy one for my parents who’s garden is currently suffering in 45 degrees heat!
