How would you like to be able to call and track your young child by a press of a button to give you peace of mind? Sound like a great right? Indeed! LG KizON are finally coming to UK and we are amongst the first in the UK to try it on!
This LG KizON is a wearable designed (pink & blue) exclusively for pre-school and primary school children that gives you a simple and convenient way to communicate with your child. This has been designed specifically for children to wear on their wrists to be used as a direct communication device with their parents and guardians. My 7 year old son was very impressed and he thinks this looks like a ‘spy’ watch. Instead of holding a phone next to his ear, he can easily communicate by talking to his ‘watch’! His friends were impressed and they all wanted to press the call button to make a phone call. So yes, I have received a lot of missed calls from him and his friends trying to work out this cool gadget!
In addition to the LG KizON, a micro USB charging cable, mains plug and the pin for the SIM card is included. It is made from a specially sourced, non-toxic rubberised material that is comfortable against young sensitive skin. The LG KizON is the first device to receive the Green Product Mark from Europe’s leading certification body. It is lightweight and durable. I do find it quite fiddly to wear on Mr K as the wristband is hard to secure. But once it is fastened, it is secure though.
KizON is equipped with a 400 mAh battery (up to 36 hours of battery life) and take up to 3 hours to fully charge. By pressing the call button twice, it will tell you how much battery life is left on the phone. The registered guardian will be notified via their smartphone when battery life falls below 25 percent.
Setting up is easy as ABC. Firstly, simply download the KizON app via google store. But please be aware that you need to know who you want to be the first registered guardian and your second guardian if required. Your child will only able to phone you/registered guardian. If the primary registered guardian doesn’t pick up, then the call will go to voicemail. If you haven’t got voicemail set up, the call will automatically divert to the second guardian, should you chose to register one. Either way, the app will let you know you missed the call.
While using this app, you are able to track the location of the LG KizON, call your child, set the call access to a limited number of callers (approved by you), change the volume of the LG KizON and many more. Each time you make a change tracking, running low on battery or missed call, it will send you a message.
I love that the limited callers is up to 4 numbers. This means I can set who is able to call my child on his LG KizON. I had tried it out with my sister-in-law. I gave her the mobile number and she was not able to call the number until I registered her number into the app. This definitely gives me piece of mind if my son was to give his number to his friends for example, they wouldn’t be able to call him.
Next, it also comes with GPS capability. It does take up to 90 seconds to track him down but is really easy to do. This however is limited by the registered guardian’s mobile data. Unfortunately, I ran out of mobile data so I was unable to track Mr K while we were out. Luckily, my husband is the second registered guardian and he is able to track Mr K down quickly. We were very impressed how quickly we could get his position.
To answer the phone, you just press the call button once. I find it hard to answer/press the LG KizON call button but Mr K seems to not have any problems with it! He always answers my phone call quickly.
The call is very clear and I am able to hear the background too. I do have to be careful what information I relay on the phone as it can be heard by others people around him.
Overall, I love this new gadget as it give me piece of mind. The call and tracking is very impressive too. I can see that this is a very useful gadget especially when we are in a crowded play area and you need to track down your child.
At the moment, I do not know the RRP of the gadget, so I am not able to comment if it is great value for money. I do know that both my children and their friends totally love this and find it very handy!
