DreamWorks’ HOME Toy & Movie Review

13 March 2015 by Eileen

This coming 20th March 2015, prepare for a cute alien invasion coming to the big screen in the UK! In celebration of the animated DreamWorks Movie release of HOME, Flair have release a huge range of toys to bring the magic to your home. The toy collection features all the recognisable characters such as Oh, Tip and Captain Smek, helping your little one to create their very own magical BOOV story!

HOME toys from Flairs

We had all watched the trailer at the cinema and have been eagerly anticipating this!

HOME is a story about an overly optimistic alien race named Boov, and its leader, Captain Smek, invades Earth to hide from their mortal enemy and make it a new home. They are convinced that they are doing a favour and begin to relocate the human race, but one girl, Tip, manages to avoid capture. When on the run, she is accompanied with a banished Boov, named Oh, who accidentally notified the enemies of his whereabouts.

Want to bring Captain Smek to life? This Shusher Wand (RRP £9.99) and Boov mood ears will definitely add fun in role play! Ms C immediately loved the wand! It comes with realistic sound effects and four recognisable phrases from the film. It requires 2 AAA batteries which are included in the set. By pressing the button, it will reveal a hidden flashing miniature Smek. Young children have to be careful not to point the wand near the face as the lids are pointy.

There are 15 mood ears to choose from and available in 6 different colours (RRP £3.99)! Doesn’t Ms C look evilly cute in that?!

This plush red Oh doll is so soft and cuddly. He stands 13cm tall with embroidered features. He will be available soon! Next is the collectable 2 inch Home Mood Bubbles (RRP £2.49) which come in a neatly packed clean bubble shell which sits in gold alien pods.

That is not all, there are also these Colour Changing figures that change colour in response to heat and touch, Animated Dancing Plush Oh which features three different songs and four hit phrases from the big screen hit, and Animated Tip doll and Oh that will speak five key phrases from the film plus accessories.

home dreamworks review

We managed to book preview tickets to watch the new movie Home on Mother’s Day. Both children were very excited to watch the movie and of course to eat popcorn. This is a 94 minute movie and both my children were very attentive and sat through it. The storyline and the cute character Oh definitely caught my children’s attention. I am very pleased that both enjoyed watching it. Ms C in particular was very excited and kept repeating, “wave my hands in the air, like I just don’t care”. I was quite surprised that she even managed to remember the quote, especially as she is never great at remembering long sentences. This is quite a simple storyline that teaches children about living in harmony and family values. It is always very important to stay together as a family. It contains some bits of silliness and of course, funny moves. This movie is definitely great for young children and kids will love Oh!

Disclosure: We have received samples and cinema voucher for the purposes of writing this review, however, all thoughts and opinions remain our own.
