Hardwall Takker Review

12 September 2014 by Eileen

Since becoming a SAHM, my passion for DIY has been getting stronger! Each time, I tell myself, yes, I can do it. From wallpapering, fixing cupboards to making my own magnetic chalkboard, I have accumulated a numbers of tools! One of the essential bit of kit is a drill, drill bits and wall plugs for putting things up.

Hanging picture is one of the easiest jobs yet it can still go very wrong! For example, there’s a couple of pictures in our home that I have to push straight every now and again! Hopefully it doesn’t drop!

Hardwall Takker review

About a month ago, I was contacted and shown this video about Hardwall Takker. My first response was wow, I want it so badly! I have had my fair share of DIY disasters and bought a number of tools just to hang a picture! Now with Hardwall Takker, will I become a DIY expert? I will tell you soon!

The Hardwall Takker kit comes in a small box with picture hook accessories and instructions. It was surprising lightweight, easy to hold and simple to use.

Firstly, it is advisable to mark the site with a pencil which I ignored in my example. Place Hardwall Takker onto the wall and start to drill it. Once the red floating base compresses the grey coloured body of the Hardwall Takker, this indicates that it has drilled 3mm into the surface.

I have used it on concrete and plasterboard which were both very straightforward to drill but have not tried it on brick, mortar and ceramic tiles. When you remove the Hardwall Takker from the wall, remember that the dust is inside the Hardwall Takker so make sure you don’t shake it around. Do remember to empty into a bin. I kept forgetting and dropped all the dust each time I drill the next holes!

Then use the Hardwall Takker to push in the white Hardwall Takk. There are 12 white Hardwall Takks on the Hardwall Takker handle. I find it quite hard to push out the storage handle to get the Hardwall Takk.

Once the white Hardwall Takk is on the wall, I put a picture hook on it. I was quite wary so I placed a plastic bag full of books onto the hook to test that it could really hold up to 12 kg (when used with the multi-purpose hook)! I was amazed that after a few hours, the books were still hanging from the wall. Then later I placed the clock back to the wall. After two weeks, the clock is still intact and doesn’t require straightening! Woohoo! I was worried as the Hardwall Takk is so small but my concerns are unfounded as they’ve proved to be very durable!

I am very impressed with Hardwall Takker. It makes DIY so easy and now I won’t need to worry where I place my drill bits or my power tools. With this all in one product, it enables me to avoid hanging hazards, buying/getting different sizes of wall plugs, cracked walls or broken tiles. Hardwall Takker can also be used outdoors for hanging flower baskets for example but they it might require bigger hooks.

The Hardwall Takker kit costs just £24.99 including postage and packaging within the UK/Ireland and includes:

  • Hardwall Takker
  • Multi-purpose drill bit
  • 24 Hardwall Takks
  • 4 Picture hooks
  • 4 Canvas Hangers
  • 2 Medium multi-purpose hooks

It is available at: www.takker.com. For this price, I think this is great value for money.

Great device to use inside the home when hanging pictures etc but tried it outside on stone and brick – didn’t work. Could be because I am ‘a weak and feeble woman’ but apparently I should be able to use the takker inside and out. Also not so good on wood – perhaps for same reason? However when trying the takker on a door, I finished the hole off with a bradawl and then I could use the it to push in the white tack. Wood isn’t a problem really because I don’t tend to hang things on doors and it’s easy to hammer a nail in. But will definitely use the takker for hanging pictures inside the house as in this context, it works really well with no need for a drill and wall plugs.

Looks like a great idea but wonder if it would cope with my solid stone walls?? We find it so hard to hang things!

This looks really good! I am not even a DIY person at all, but I want this – it looks so easy that even I could do it!
