Poppy the Pirate Day and the Treasure Keeper is a book written by bestselling author Liz Kessler and illustrated by Mike Phillips. The book is the third in the popular Poppy the Pirate Dog series. We had reviewed the first book late last year: Poppy the Pirate Dog.
This book is suitable for ‘Early Readers’. Blue Early Readers are perfect for sharing and reading together. This is a red Early Reader which is the next step on your reading journey.
It will be released on 14 August 2014 and published by Orion Publishing. The book is paperback containing about 64 pages with six chapters. The font is a good reading size, with simple words that should be easy to read by school children. Each page is beautifully illustrated with a lot of action scenes.
The story is about Mum’s birthday and Poppy and her family are putting on a pirate show. It’s Poppy’s job to be the treasure keeper. The only trouble is, she isn’t very good at it. Not only does she mess up the props, she injures herself too. But what she did next was fabulous! It is what dogs are supposed to do! Do read it and find out what she did.
Mr K was able to read the book all by himself in one go with minimal help. He only needed to ask me to explain a couple of words. He has really enjoyed reading this series.
