How to Make Your Couch Comfortable

24 May 2014 by Eileen Leave a Comment

Wait a Minute – Don’t Throw Out Your Old Couch Just Yet! The winter weather has been horrible, but weather in the United Kingdom is starting to look a bit nicer lately. The only eye sore tends to be at the curb, where the trash from neighbour’s spring cleaning attempt sits. Now that the weather’s cleaning up, furniture is also finding its way out the door.

So you start looking around your house and you think about what you want to buy next. Maybe you argue yourself out of a new TV, but only because your kids destroyed your couch. But it was once a huge investment and it shouldn’t be ready to go yet. Surely there is a way you can save your couch from being taken away!

How to Make Your Couch Comfortable

How to Make Your Couch Comfortable Again

So the main problem with your couch is likely the cushions themselves. Having the same couch for a while can really wear it out. Just think about a mattress and how it tends to cave in after time. The same happens with the cushions on your couch.

So if the problem is the cushions, you don’t have to replace the whole couch. You can pick up couch foam cushions and replace the current ones. The result of this will be a comfortable couch, once again. It will also help to renew the life expectancy of your couch as the extensive wear over the years has been erased.

Choosing the Right Couch Foam Cushions

When choosing between options of couch foam cushions, you will be able to decide exactly how you want your new couch cushions to feel. There are different levels of softness, thickness, and overall comfort.

For example, poly foam would be suitable if the couch is not used that much. However, in the case where it gets a lot of wear and tear you may want to stick with super soft foam. A medium or firm foam would also be suitable for regular use, but choosing between the two will come down to personal preferences.

You also have the ability to purchase any size and shape of couch foam cushion that you may need. If you need an L-shape, T-shape, or just a centre piece, you will have no problem buying it. You will also be able to choose between foam cushions based on thickness, with many foam cushions available in thicknesses ranging from one to six inches.

Can You Save Your Bed Too?

Hold on one minute!

You just saved yourself from buying a new couch, so you are justifying the purchase of a new bed? Not so quick, that may not be necessary either.

A memory foam topper can be added onto any mattress to increase the mattress’s comfort. These toppers are typically available in three to five pound densities and two to four inch thicknesses. The toppers typically provide medium to firm support. They help to improve circulation, reduce back pain, and they contour with your body.

For many, buying a memory foam mattress topper solves their mattress discomfort problems. It also saves a lot of money in comparison to buying a new mattress, and especially compared to buying a new memory foam mattress. If you are interested in buying a memory foam topper, you should read a memory foam mattress topper buying guide first.

Conclusion

Many pieces of furniture can be improved through replacing the foam they contain. From sofas to mattresses, and everything in between. If your furniture has foam cushioning and it’s become uncomfortable, or the cushions were always uncomfortable, then buying replacement foam will make all the difference. The great thing is, since it’s just foam, it’s also a very affordable purchase.
