Hasbro Furby Boom Sweet Zigzag

15 November 2013 by Eileen 8 Comments

Furby Boom is the 2013 new generation interactive toy that will work with a free Furby Boom app with iPad, iPod touch, iPhone with iOS 5.0 or later and Android. They are suitable for 6 years old and above. It requires 4 AA batteries and a small flat screwdriver to open the battery compartment which are not included.

Inside the battery compartment, there is a reset function if you ever want to reset it back to it’s original state. After installing the batteries, the Furby work immediately – there is no ‘on’ button. He/she will start talking in Furbish language. These are the examples:

  • Dah-ay-loh-oo-tye! — Good morning!
  • Doo-oo-tye? — What’s up?
  • Ah-tah kah! — Feed me!
  • Dah-may-may! — Love it!
  • Dah-boo! — No way!

The more we talk to him (we named him Dah Bay) the more English it will speak.  I would suggest to try to talk to him slowly and closer to you to ensure he can hear you. When using the app we found it easier to point the speaker towards Dah Bay as the app and the Furby communicates by sound. This was quite surprising as I thought bluetooth would have offered a more reliable option. Once he is synced, the app will tell you what to do next. It will let you know if he needs a wash or is hungry.

In the app, it also allows us to collect digital eggs, hatch them, and raise a city of virtual Furby Furblings. You can also name them with a range of selected names. The app also has a music game, where your Furby will dance to the music and at times, you have to hold him upside down or give him a shake!  There are so many virtual eggs to hatch and looking after.

Furby Boom is like a robot hamster/owl but with a personality you create. The more interactive you are, the more fun they will to be.  Ms C loves to cuddle him and feed him with her fingers. Mr K prefers to play together with the app by making him dance or feed him virtual smoothies! Furby come with LCD eyes with a range of emotions. His ears are made from rubber and his feet made from plastic. His fur is very soft to touch.  When he moves, he makes a lot of clicking sounds. His tail can be pulled to send him to sleep or he will fart or play a game.

Compared with the old Furby, where you need to replace their batteries to stop them from talking in the night, this new Furby will turn itself off once there is no interaction in a minute. It saves me from getting the batteries out. Also it will require a proper tickle to wake him up. My children love him a lot and want him to sleep with them. I find playing in conjunction with the app makes it easier to understand Furby’s needs like if he needs to be fed or washed etc. This is a fun, interactive and great toy for children. It will also encourage children to be more imaginative and creative. The more the children talk with Furby, the more confident they are going to be in future. Furby boom is our children’s number one pet! They are fun to play with.
