Me Books: The Brave Beast Review

23 August 2013 by Eileen

Me Books store is an app that allows you to buy your favourite children’s books and customise the audio content in them. The ebook that I download is called “The Brave Beast” which is written by Chris Judge. Each page is beautifully illustrated, bright and colourful. This is a story which follows on from “The Lonely Beast”. The Beast is asked by some islanders to help investigate a mysterious noise on their island. He sets off by jumping down the air plane and then swims ashore. Next, he wanders through the quiet island to investigate the strange noise. He goes up and down the tunnel and through a forest. He then sees a tiny little bird who is lost and crying. In fact, the tiny little bird is the scary noise on the island. In the end, the islanders invite the bird to stay and gives him a job in the lighthouse.

The Brave Beast

Both of my children enjoyed listening and clicking on the words and pictures.  Actually, they found it hard to stop clicking on the ebook as they both enjoyed those weird noises made by Beast and the bird. We all love how each character/object will speak or make a noise. It is so much fun listening to books that interact.

In all Me Books ebooks, you are able to record and save your own/children’s voices throughout the whole story and save them. The original narration can easily be restored if you decide you don’t want to use your own recordings any more but remember to save your own recording if you wish to keep it.

To record your own voice/sound, click the right hand top corner. It will show you the hotspot where you can double tap and delete by swiping or draw your own hotspot.  To record, hold down the hotspot and record. It is easy and fun.

Overall, we enjoyed listening to the ebook because it is interactive. My children loved the part in the story where the Beast is in the tunnel and clicking on him makes many amusing different noises!

Disclosure: We were given Me Books code to download this ebook for the purposes of writing this review, however, all thoughts and opinions remain our own.
