Bambi is one of Disney’s classics which was first released in 1942. He was loved by many children because he is so adorable. I still remember I cried each time when his mum got shot and died. This is one of my favourite Disney films.
The animated story of Bambi tells of a young deer hailed as the ‘Prince of the Forest’ at his birth. As Bambi grows, he makes friends with the other animals of the forest, learns the skills needed to survive, and even finds love. One day, however, the hunters come, and Bambi must learn to be as brave as his father if he is to lead the other deer to safety. I know that hunting courts considerable controversy in the UK and I have never talked about it with my children. Ms C was a bit sensitive at the shooting sounds but there is no blood shown.
Disney has enhanced and digital restored the film. It is a really good quality picture since this is over 70 years old. The colour and sound quality is excellent. Listening to Love is a song which makes me think about my childhood. Since watching the DVD, the song keeps playing in my head! It also comes with bonus features including an introduction by Diane Disney Miller; inside Walt’s story meetings and DisneyPedia: Bambi’s forest friends. I rate this DVD 5 stars out of 5. It is one of the classic shows for the whole family to enjoy on a night in! Besides their amazing adventure, the film also teaches us the power of friendship and family.
