Hape balance boat is a very simple concept by asking children to balance the boat by putting the right amount of wood pieces (The Sailors) onto the boat. It can initially be very frustrating for a child. But it helps encourage them to problem solve. It should be played on a flat surface, preferably on a table to encourage good posture.
Firstly, I had to teach Ms C to put the same size or shape wooden piece into groups. Then let her put the pieces onto the boat on each side to get it to balance. It took a while for her to understand. It also encourages parent and child interaction.
Each wooden piece is easy to hold and thread. The quality of the wood is superb. There is no rough or sharp surfaces. The colour of the wood is bright and colourful. It is an awesome toy that needs a bit of patience. I rate this toy 4 out of 5 stars.
