MindTrap is a challenging lateral thinking puzzle game that Cheatwell has secured the rights to one of the best-loved games of the Twentieth Century. You can either work as an individual or as a team to solve mysteries, conundrums, riddles, and logic problems. It is packed with 509 puzzles, brainteasers and trick questions that are guaranteed to give your brain a thorough mental workout. It is suitable for ages 12 and above.
It comes in a compact box, which is ideal to play after-school, on holidays, nights, and rainy days and it’s a game that allows everyone to join in the fun! There are a total of 360 cards and instructions. Each card comes with either one or two questions surrounded by a pink border and the answers are at the back with blue borders. Some question cards will have a pink diamond-shaped image at the bottom of the cards. They are the enquiry cards where the players can ask the reader any questions they choose to help them solve the problem. However the reader can only answer with Yes, No or Irrelevant, so ask wisely!
The objective of the game is to be the first player or team to collect ten cards/questions to win the game. As I mentioned, some cards come with two questions, you can set your own house rules to win either by the number of cards or the number of questions you win.
Now let me give you an example of the game and see if you can solve it. Professor Quantum has two coins which total 30p. Since one of the coins is not 10p, what are the two coins?
Do you know the answer? What about an enquiry card example? “Therein lies the secret,” said Scheming Suzie. “For you see, there is a seven-letter word in the English language that contains eight words without rearranging any of its letters.” What is the word?
For the first question, the answer is a 20p and a 10p. One coin is not a 10p but the other is. For the second question, the answer is Therein: the, there, he, in, rein, her, here, ere. Did you get both questions correct? It is incredibly satisfying working out the answers to those head-wrenching questions.
We find it fun and challenging to play, especially working as a team as everyone gets to voice their opinions and discuss. The game also includes plenty of cards so you’ll be playing for a good while before the questions are repeated. This game is available to buy in-store, online and on Amazon.
