Drinkmate OmniFizz Carbonated Drink Maker Review

13 October 2022 by Eileen

Have you thought about why fizzy drinks taste so good? Is it the taste, smell or bubbles that tingle your mouth? Or maybe the bubbles make the drinks taste more interesting and encourage us to drink more? Now you can make your fizzy drinks wherever you are, with this Drinkmate, you can carbonate any beverage without dilution, like wine, fruit juice without pulp, cocktails and many more.

Instead of buying sparkling water which will cost you a lot more, just use a Drinkmate and add a few slices of fresh strawberries or cucumbers to it! Or if you have fussy children who want fizzy pop, add blackcurrant squash to the carbonated water. It works and you know what’s in there. We all love fizzy drinks here! We can get through 24 cans in a week.

This drink maker also comes with a 60 litre CO2 cylinder, an 850 ml carbonation bottle, a cap and instructions. The drink maker is quite lightweight without the gas cylinder as the cover is made from thin plastic. I did wonder whether it would feel unstable on the table, but my fears were unwarranted as once the gas cylinder is installed, it is very sturdy.

There is only one thing to assemble with this drink maker which is the replaceable CO2 cylinder. Flip open the back cover, remove the plastic black cap on the threaded part of the drink maker, place the CO2 cylinder in and turn anti-clockwise until it is hand-tight. Replace the back cover and it is ready to use. Of course, always hand wash your carbonation bottle before use. Never wash any part of the carbonation bottle inside a dishwasher.

To use, fill the bottle with the drinks you want to the max fill line and attach the fizz infuser to it. Insert the bottle into the countertop adapter and tilt the fizz infuser to a straight vertical position.

Now, this is the fun part, time to fizz! After a couple of uses, I’ve mastered how to judge the carbonation levels for low, medium or high carbonation. The button is nice and easy to press without requiring any strong force. I love my drink to be very fizzy and I always go for the maximum press. Once the discharging sound is heard while pressing the bottle, it means you have to stop. If you like highly foaming beverages, fill the bottle halfway and carbonate using short bursts. For low-foaming beverages, fill up to the max fill line and use longer bursts. Once you’ve mastered it, you can adjust it according to your taste.

Now, wait for about 10 seconds before removing the bottle from the drink maker. Once you remove the bottle, gently shake the bottle to increase the carbonation level. The fizz infuser comes with a slow pressure release valve tab and fast pressure release valve button. Open the slow release valve, when the sound of air releasing stops, press the blue fast release button to make sure pressure is fully released. Pour your drink and replace the fizz infuser with the provided cap for storage.

Some drinks will foam much more than others. If the foam reaches the top of the bottle when the slow release valve is open, close the valve and wait before opening it again. For water or syrup, the average pushes are around 2 – 5, whilst juice and wine will take at least 4 to 20 pushes to achieve bubbliness. You just have to experiment with your drinks and have fun with them.

This drink maker is so easy to use and maintain. I love that the fizz infuser can be removed and hand-washed. It is not attached like other drink makers. We all enjoy the drinks as the carbonation process makes them taste like it’s fresh from a can! Of course, not all carbonated drinks taste nice. I am not a fan of Rubicon sparkling juice, hence sparkling juice is not my thing. On the other hand, my son loves Rubicon, now with this drink maker, he can make his own version of the Rubicon drink. I love that we can even bring it out for camping or to use at an outdoor party as it doesn’t require electricity! It is a great party gadget! Drinkmate OmniFizz is available to buy on Amazon.
