Plumbing Problems You Need To Fix ASAP

24 August 2022 by Eileen

Over the course of your life in the home, it’s only natural that a little wear and tear is going to happen. It affects the fixtures, and materials, and it’s going to affect the systems running throughout the property, such as your plumbing, too. You might think that some issues, like taps that are a little too tight, can wait a while before you fix them. However, there are some you should make sure that you jump on ASAP, or the damage they do can be truly catastrophic.

Plumbing Problems You Need To Fix ASAP

Any signs of a leak

A leak in your pipes, even a tiny one that just drips out water, is a serious problem. If you spot any of the signs of a leak, such as damp spreading fast from a specific area, you should investigate to find the source as soon as possible. Not only is it going to affect your water pressure and your water bills, since you’re consistently losing water, but the potential for water damage to the property can be very expensive to deal with, as well.

Your tap keeps dripping

It might seem like a small issue, even if it is somewhat annoying. However, if your tap keeps dripping even after you have turned it down as much as possible, it’s a sign that a bigger problem could be on the way. Usually, it’s the rubber washer that’s the problem, and replacing that isn’t too difficult. If it goes on long enough, however, it can become a persistent leak and might require you to replace your tap entirely. What’s more, constantly running water, even if it’s just a little, is going to show up on your water bill.

Repeating toilet clogs

If a toilet clogs once, then it might just be something as simple as a blockage that needs a little help on its way down the drains. However, if it continues to happen, then it could be that there’s a deeper clog somewhere in the drainage system, which might not be dislodging properly, even if you temporarily get it working again. A drainage company can make sure that you’re clearing the entirety of the drains and not just the opening affixed to the toilet. They can check for other issues that might cause clogs, too.

Your water has changed colour

If you see that your water is suddenly looking a little reddish brown in colour, then it’s safe to say that you’re not very likely to keep on drinking it. But you should go further than that and make sure you have a plumber come to check it out and see what the cause is. The cause is usually rust, and this corrosion can spread through your pipes, affecting your water quality and, if unchecked, leading to a burst pipe which can be costly to repair, not to mention all of the water damage.

Never let a potential plumbing emergency sit unchecked. Make sure that you have the phone number of good professionals in your area and that you’re not afraid to use it when necessary.
