Welcome to Richard Osman’s House of Games show! This game is based on the hit BBC2 show hosted by Richard Osman since 2017. In the show, each week, a group of four celebrities compete against each other and work as a team to test their knowledge in a series of questions to win points throughout the week. The winner will be crowned at the end of the week.
This is the board game version by Ginger Fox, for aged 12 onwards and at least three players. If you have more than six players, you can play as teams instead. This is a great family game for older children. My 13 year old Mr K and 11 year old Ms C are still quite young with not a great general knowledge so find many of the questions quite difficult. This game comes with 140 question cards, six game selector cards, buzzer, winner’s trophy cardboard, game selector sleeve and instructions. Setting up is simple. The buzzer should be placed in the middle of the table within reach of all the players. The buzzer requires two AAA batteries which are included. Before you play this game, you will need to get a pen and paper to use for scoring, and also need a mobile phone handy to play the Totes Emoji game.
Places the cards around the buzzer as shown on the photo/instructions. There are seven different categories/game deck: Rhyme Time, Correction Centre, You Spell Terrible, Totes Emoji, Answer Smash, You Complete Me and House of Games.
Rhyme Time: Give the answer to the two trivia questions to create the rhyme.
Correction Centre: Replace one word to make the statement correct.
You Spell Terrible: In your teams, one player must answer the trivia question and the other player must spell the answer.
Totes Emoji: On a smartphone, spell out one of the answers below using emojis for your teammate to guess.
Answer Smash: Give the answer to the picture shown and one trivia question.
You Complete Me: One player in the team must give the first half of the answer and the other player must give the second.
House of Games: Give the answers to the two trivia questions. Both the answers are anagrams of one another.
Before starting the game, take the six Game Selector cards, shuffle them and place the top four cards down into the Game Selector sleeve. Place the sleeve on the table, and the two remaining cards back in the box. Now to start the game, one player/host starts by looking at the top card from the Game Selector sleeve to see which game type will be played first. Players take turns to be the host.
There are four rounds of game categories to play, and the fifth and final game is the Answer Smash. For this, none of the players takes on the role of host. After three Answer Smash cards have been played, the game is over. The most points scored wins the game.
This game is very simple to set up and play. It tests out your general knowledge skills and life skills like using emojis. It is a great challenging trivia game to play with family and friends. I love trivia game shows and this helps me to increase my general knowledge and my English skills! I would recommend it. This game is available from John Lewis and good online shops.
