Making Your Bedroom Extra Cosy For The Winter
Summer has been amazing, but it is starting to wave it’s finally goodbyes for the year and soon we will be back in autumn and in winter. The colder seasons of the year are many people’s favourites because they are super cosy, you have an excuse to hibernate in the house and you get to wear all of those super comfy jumpers once more. During the summer you likely stripped out a lot of the bedroom to make it manageable for sleep, but now it is time to bring back that warmth and have some fun with the space. Here are our top ways to make the bedroom super cosy this winter.
Buy thicker sheets
The first thing you will want to do for the autumn and winter is to either break out the thicker sheets from the loft or buy some new ones. It will be much colder in the house during the winter so you won’t be able to sleep under a tiny duvet cover any longer, you’ll want thick, cosy and silky sheets which you can get lost in during the weekend and hibernate in when you feel ill.
Update the mattress
For a touch of luxury and comfort in your bedroom for the winter, you can even go as far as to treat yourself to a new mattress. Mattresses are expensive and they are something we only update when we need to, but if yours is looking worn out it might be the ideal time to treat yourself. You can buy a memory foam mattress for the most comfy and cosy feeling you can possibly enjoy. You will get a much better night’s sleep and you’ll feel invigorated each morning.
Black it out
Even though the summer has given us lots of light, the winter can sometimes be a lot harsher with the sunlight due to the fact that the sun is lower than it is during the summer. This may mean that you wake up to glaring light into the bedroom which doesn’t help you sleep at all. To combat this, you can but yourself some good quality blackout curtains which will completely keep away the light and allow you to enjoy that extra hour or two of sleep each morning.
Add soft lighting
Winter is all about magic and feeling incredibly fun and warm. When you are sitting downstairs in the evenings with your family you will always want to turn the main lights off and light some candles to give that soft, wonderful light and feeling of cosiness. In the bedroom you can light a candle which has a relaxing fragrance and you can also hang fairy lights above the bed to give you both some light when reading your book in bed or talking the night away together. It is a way of feeling more cosy and childlike and it can make you feel very happy.
Bring in some character
When you come to decorate your bedroom and update it for the winter, one of the things you might want to think about doing is adding in some of your personality. Imagine hanging up some lovely artwork above the bed which you created yourself. Creating a magical galaxy pattern on the wall which will immediately make you feel relaxed… there are so many great things you can do here to make your bedroom feel more cosy and personal, so have fun with it and let your creativity flow.
