As a family of four and I am a big fan of soups. I always opt for the biggest size stockpot to cook both lunch and dinner for all of us. Not only do I choose based on size, I also look for good quality materials and a glass lid.
Getting a good quality stainless steel pot is so important as it not only cooks the food well, it will last for a long time. I once bought a thin stockpot and after using it just once, the inside of the pot showed some corrosion. I ended up having to return it. A good pot should never change its colour after using it!
I have been using this Stay Cool stockpot a few times now and it is provided really good results and proved to be very dependable. This is a great size (6 litres) and height for a family of four or more! The pot is quite deep, measuring 22.5cm. I use it to cook all sorts, from noodles to soups, and many more. It is suitable for use in the oven up to 180 degrees and all hob types including induction. This has a nice weight to it but it’s not overly heavy. The pot is easy to clean and so far there is no food stuck on the base of the pot. It is dishwasher safe but I have not tried it out in a dishwasher as we don’t have one. It comes with an internal capacity guide on the inside which is very visible and useful.
The next thing I look for is a glass lid as it gives you more control as you can just peep at the ingredients instead of lifting the lid to check on it. I love the silicone edged glass lid with two different draining options. It drains quite slowly and not as quickly as I would like.
My husband was very unsure about the silicone edge as it does not look like a durable lid and the silicone might ruin after some time. Personally, I don’t think it is a big deal especially as I don’t place the silicone edged glass lid on any surfaces. I always place it upside-down with the base of the knob on the surface instead. Time will tell if the silicone edge will last! I will have to update after six months of use! One last point – when you place the lid on the pan – there’s no clattering, metal-on-metal noise as the silicone quietly.
Overall I love the quality and the weight of this pot. It is very durable and well-made and they have a lifetime guarantee.
