Woolly and Tig is a series of 5 minute live action dramas about a three year old girl (Tig) and her toy spider (Woolly). Tig finds new experiences frightening and her favourite toy helps explain what is happening and provides empathy and reassurance to enable Tig to face unfamiliar situations with confidence.
Following on from the series, they have launched quite a few products from toys, DVD, magazines, bedding to books. Random House has kindly sent us Let’s Play! Sticker Book and Night Night, Woolly book for review.
Let’s Play! Sticker Book (RRP £3.99) has over 100 stickers and lot of activities to do based on the show itself. Children will learn writing, counting, spot the difference, etc. This is quite a simple book which is great for pre-school children. Most of the pages comes with photos for each activity and the activities are very easy to understand. Ms C loves her sticker books and managed to do half of the activities without any help. She is always very happy pasting stickers!
Night Night, Woolly (RRP £5.99) tells the story of Tig being afraid of the dark so her parents buy her a night light. This is about how she overcomes the fear and learns that the hairy monsters she has seen is in fact her sheep mobile hanging on her ceiling. Woolly reassures her and explores and talks about her new experience. This is great for children who are afraid of the dark. This is a paperback book and comes with a lot of real life photos from the show. The font is big and easy to read. I would say this book is great for calming night time fear and not really a bed time story book.
Both books are written by Brian Jameson and published by Bantam Children, part of Random House Children’s Publishers UK. They are suitable for preschool children.
If your children has any fears or you would like to talk about new experiences with them, do take a look at Woolly and Tig books or show as they might help your children.
Disclosure: I received these books from the publisher for free. However, they have not paid me for this review, and they do not exercise any editorial control over my review or anything else on this site.
