It was 14 years ago that I went to Madame Tussauds London in Baker Street. I still remember I was browsing endless of beautifully made celebrities wax figurines alone in a big room. I am astounded that is has changed so much since then! The whole place is well laid out, spacious and they even have a ride and 4D cinema. I am very impressed.
I used to walk pass Madame Tussauds while going to work and every time, there was always massive queues. This time when we went, there was no queue as we had a time slot to get in but when we reached inside, the whole place was packed. Even though it was quite spacious between each wax celebrity, there were many people all trying to photos with the next celebrity. Sometimes it seems that we had to fight to get in. You can get a lot of inconsiderate people who just think of themselves. This didn’t spoil the experience but be prepared for crowds! We had a great time especially as I had won the family tickets from Elastoplast’s Instagram!
The first room is the Party theme where you get to meet singers like Lady Ga Ga, Britney Spears, and also actors like Benedict Cumberbatch, Morgan Freeman and others like David & Victoria Beckham and Kim Kardashian & Kanye West. Also at the corner of the room was the Bollywood theme.
Then it moves onto the Fashion Week room. This room was quite small and was packed full of people. I think you can experience the cat walk in a new multisensory Fashion Week for your photos to be taken.
You then enter the Film theme where they have the Kong: Skull Island experience. In partnership with Legendary Pictures and Warner Brothers Pictures, Madame Tussauds London and Madame Tussauds New York have brought the experience to life with a multi-sensory animatronic head of the gigantic Kong himself, built to scale at more than 18 feet high. We stepped into the tropical environment of the infamous Skull Island, where there were spiders and uncovered artefacts from the film. There is a new wax figure of Captain James Conrad, played by British actor Tom Hiddleston in the film, before coming face to face with the enormous KONG!
Also not forgetting my hero who inspired me to give my blog this name, ET Speaks From Home, ET! I always remember ET said, “ET phone home”. Other stars from film like Jennifer Lawrence, from The Hunger Games and Shrek are in this section. Right at the corner of the room, you can pay to make your hand out of wax!
Next up is YouTube, Sports, Royal, Culture, Music and World leaders. We didn’t pay extra for the Sherlock Holmes experience hence we just walked through to take a trip with the Spirit of London Ride in the London cab. We were told not to video or photo as we were be moving in the carriage. We did enjoy the whole ride. Then we moved through to the 4D cinema to watch the Marvel movie. It was great but the waiting time was quite long. The storyline and special effects were great so I do think it is worth to waiting for it.
The experience ends with the Star Wars wax figurines. You can get your photo taken with a fight scene with Darth Vader! Overall we had great time visiting there and would go again, though I would try and avoid school half term or weekends next time.
