Mr Men Birthday Party Review

5 May 2016 by Eileen

This coming 9th May was the original creator of the Mr Men, Roger Hargreaves’s birthday.  To coincide with his birthday, we would like to show you two Mr Men books: Mr. Men Birthday Party and Mr Men the Very Silly Birthday book.

Mr Men Birthday Party is today and is available to buy from good book retailers and Amazon.  We were so lucky to read it first hand!  The story is about Mr Silly’s birthday and Little Miss Helpful helps organise his birthday party, but unfortunately Little Miss Helpful isn’t as helpful as she sounds.  Somehow or other things never quite turn out as they are meant to.  This is a fun to read story and both my children enjoy reading it.  We often take this story on a long road trip on hire electric car, it’s always interesting for my kids.

Next we have the Mr Men the Very Silly Birthday book from Egmont, which is a personalised book where you can personalise the name and avatar (which can be a girl or a boy) for your child. As Ms C’s birthday is also in May, we decided to make her very own Mr Men book. She chose her own hair, facial features and the colours of her clothing.  She adores this book and the silliness of the story too. You can use this code pblogger20 to get 20% off.

To celebrate Roger Hargreaves’s birthday, we made ourselves two Mr Men costumes: Mr Bounce and Mr Messy, to join in the party!  Since we have a stack of old and unused foam floor mats with pink and yellow colours, we decided to use them to make these Mr Men costumes out of it!  Simply draw the outline of the Mr Men’s shape, then cut out including two holes for the eyes and use a permanent marker to draw the facial features.  Then we gave Mr Bounce a pink Duck Tape hat to go along with it!  At the back of the costumes, we used Duck Tape to make a head strap to strap on their head.

Those two guests were thrilled to join in the birthday party and especially loved the cake!  What a gorgeous and yummy Little Miss Princess cake!  It is available to buy from Tesco.
