If you spend hours sitting at a desk every day, investing in a high-quality ergonomic office chair with footrest can make a world of difference. Whether you’re working from home, gaming, studying, or simply browsing the internet, having the right support helps reduce fatigue and improves your posture.
During the warmer months, comfort becomes even more important. Traditional padded office chairs can trap heat, leaving you feeling hot and uncomfortable after a few hours. That’s where the FlexiSpot ErgoX ART Ergonomic Office Chair stands out. Its breathable airy mesh design allows air to circulate freely, helping you stay cool throughout the day.
Since Mr C spends most of his working day in his home office, we were keen to see whether the FlexiSpot ErgoX ART could provide the comfort and support needed for long hours at the desk.

Unboxing & Assembly
The FlexiSpot ErgoX ART Ergonomic Office Chair with Footrest arrived well packaged in a large box containing all the components, screws, a hex key, and clear assembly instructions. I purchased ours through Amazon, where an unpacking and assembly service is also available for an additional cost.

The base and reclining mechanism are quite heavy, but I was able to remove everything from the box safely and assemble almost the entire chair by myself. The instructions are straightforward and easy to follow. The only stage where I needed assistance was attaching the chair frame to the wheel base, as one person needs to hold the chair while the other guides it into the mechanism.
If you’d like to see exactly how I assembled the chair and how all the adjustment features work, including the headrest, armrests and reclining mechanism, be sure to watch my video on my YouTube channel: https://youtu.be/QnLoln6uZ4A
Colour Options
When ordering the FlexiSpot ErgoX ART Ergonomic Office Chair, I decided to go for the green colour, and I’m really pleased with my choice. The soft green shade looks modern and adds a touch of colour to the office without overpowering the room. If green isn’t your style, FlexiSpot also offers the chair in an elegant beige, which would suit a minimalist or neutral workspace perfectly.
Breathable Mesh Keeps You Cool
One of the biggest selling points of the FlexiSpot ErgoX ART ergonomic office chair is its breathable mesh material.
Unlike foam office chairs that retain heat, the high-resilience mesh allows air to circulate around your body, making it much more comfortable during warm weather or long working sessions. From the headrest to the seat, the breathable mesh keeps you feeling cool while still providing excellent support.
4D Adjustable Headrest
The 4D adjustable headrest is one of Mr C’s favourite features.
It provides personalised neck support by adjusting in four different ways:
- Height adjustment
- Angle adjustment
- Depth adjustment
- Headrest rotation
Mr C is 162 cm tall, and he was able to position the headrest at its lowest setting for excellent neck support. The adjustment range makes it suitable for users of many different heights.

Full-Length Back Support
The one-piece ergonomic backrest provides full spinal support and includes five levels of height adjustment (1 cm to 5 cm).
The chair is designed to accommodate users between 150 cm and 210 cm, helping maintain a healthy sitting posture throughout the day.
Adjusting the backrest is simple by pulling it upwards. To reset it back to its lowest position, lift it to the highest point before lifting once more.
One small issue we noticed is that if you move the chair by holding the backrest, you can accidentally raise it. Thankfully, resetting it only takes a few seconds.
Reclining Function & Lumbar Support
Seat height is adjusted using the rear lever beneath the chair.
The same lever also controls the reclining mechanism:
- Pull out to unlock the recline
- Push back in to lock your chosen position
The chair reclines smoothly between 90° and 135°.

Although Mr C prefers sitting upright while working, it’s nice to be able to recline and relax during breaks.
The lumbar support is fully adjustable using the knobs located on the backrest. It offers three support settings (2° to 8°), allowing you to fine-tune the lower back support to suit your comfort.

Multi-Adjustable Armrests
The armrests are another highlight.
They adjust in several directions:
- Height
- Forward and backward movement
- Left and right rotation
The armrests have a soft polyurethane (PU) finish that feels smooth and comfortable while remaining supportive.
Adjustable Seat Depth
The FlexiSpot ErgoX ART office chair also allows you to adjust the seat depth by up to 4.5 cm.
Simply lift the front lever and slide the seat forwards or backwards to find your ideal seating position. This feature is especially useful for taller users or anyone with longer legs.
Recline Tension Adjustment
Beneath the seat is a tension adjustment knob.
Turning it clockwise or anti-clockwise allows you to increase or decrease the resistance when reclining, so you can personalise the chair to your preferred comfort level.
Extendable Footrest
One feature we particularly enjoyed is the integrated footrest.
Simply pull it out from underneath the seat, rotate it into position, and put your feet up while reclining.
The footrest is also adjustable in length, making it suitable for users of different heights.
It’s perfect for taking a quick break between meetings or simply relaxing after a busy day.
