As soon as the weather turns cooler, our weekends start to look very different. Rainy walks in the park with our buddy dog, windy afternoons, and frosty college runs quickly become part of the routine — which means having the right clothes is essential. This autumn, I have been trying out some pieces from Lighthouse Clothing, and they have slotted into my life perfectly.

Abigail Padded Raincoat – the perfect waterproof coat for autumn/winter walks
My first real test came on a rainy Saturday at the park. Buddy dog Mabel and my fostered training Guide Dog, Maggie, were running in every direction, puddles were unavoidable, and the rain showed no sign of stopping.

The Abigail Padded Raincoat has quickly become my favourite. It is fully waterproof (up to 5,000 mm) with taped seams, windproof, and breathable, so I did not feel stuffy even after walking a fair distance. The faux shearling fleece lining feels like being wrapped in a soft blanket, especially around the hood, and I love that its knee-length cut meant even the splashiest puddles could not reach me.

The practical pockets are a lifesaver — I used the zipped one inside for my phone (no risk of wet screens) and the front ones for tissues, poo bags, and doggy snacks. I am also glad I chose the coat in black, as it hides dirt well. Nevertheless, it is machine washable, which is a blessing after muddy park days. Style-wise, the curved hem and quilted herringbone detail give it a touch of elegance, while the clip-on buttons at the back make it easy to move when hiking or climbing steps. This coat is the ideal mix of function and style for unpredictable autumn weather.

Causeway Tee – an easy everyday striped tee
The Causeway Tee in Indigo Stripe is part of their spring/summer collection and is currently out of stock. Do not worry though — Lighthouse still offers other tees in different colours if you are looking for a short-sleeve t-shirt. Just be quick, as they tend to sell out when the season changes.

The fabric has a slight stretch, so it moves with you and never feels restrictive. It is one of those tops you end up washing and wearing again straight away because it goes with everything. The curved hem and contrasting collar give it a more polished look than your average striped tee, so even on a simple jeans-and-trainers day you still feel put together.

Causeway Breton Top – a modern striped Breton top
I am a big fan of stripes, so the Causeway Breton Top in Navy, Cream, and Sage Stripe is right up my street. It is Lighthouse’s modern take on the classic Breton, and it is so easy to wear. The soft cotton-rich fabric feels smooth against the skin, and the flattering boat neck gives it a chic edge. I wore it for a coffee catch-up, and it struck the perfect balance between casual and stylish. It has quickly become one of those striped Breton tops I know I will keep reaching for throughout the year.

Hannah Bobble Hat – cosy winter accessories for chilly days
And finally — the cosiest finishing touch. The Hannah Bobble Hat has already been on a few outings with me: a chilly college run, a frosty dog walk, and quick trips to the shops. It is soft to the touch, warm enough to keep out the biting wind, and fits perfectly without being too tight. The cheerful bobble on top makes me smile every time I put it on — a small detail that brightens up even the greyest of days.
