After three months of transformation, the Singapore Oceanarium – formerly known as S.E.A. Aquarium – officially reopened to the public on 24 July 2025 at Resorts World Sentosa. And wow, what a comeback! The Oceanarium is now three times larger than before, featuring 22 immersive zones and housing over 40,000 marine animals. Even cooler, the entire place runs on 100% solar energy, with sustainability built right into its design.
We were super lucky to be in Singapore just in time for the grand reopening. The Oceanarium is located on Sentosa Island, and getting there is already an adventure in itself! You can:
- Walk or cycle across the scenic boardwalk
- Hop on the Singapore Cable Car
- Drive, grab a taxi, or take the Sentosa Bus
- Or, like us, ride the Sentosa Express Monorail
Pro tip: The monorail departs from Vivo City (Level 3, next to the Food Republic). It is clearly signposted, and a one-time ticket costs S$4 (which also covers your Sentosa Island entry fee). Once you are inside Sentosa, you can use the monorail for free to move around or even return to Vivo City. Super convenient!
Fun fact: About 30 years ago, you could actually take a ferry into Sentosa! I remember trying it a few times and feeling seasick because the boat was tiny and rocked like crazy. Sadly (or maybe thankfully), that service doesn’t exist anymore.
From Vivo City, it is just one stop to Resorts World Station, where you will also find Universal Studios, loads of restaurants, and other attractions. If you have got extra time, you can continue to Imbiah Station to see Merlion Plaza or head to Beach Station for some sand, sea, and sunshine.
Tickets & Entry
I booked our tickets online in advance (highly recommend!). I managed to snag the non-peak resident price of S$42, while my kids paid the non-resident rate of S$50. At the entrance, all I had to do was scan our tickets and flash my ID for verification – smooth and hassle-free.

Inside the Oceanarium
Stepping inside feels like entering another world. It is dark, immersive, and filled with state-of-the-art digital displays, interactive exhibits, and thoughtfully designed spaces that are accessible for everyone. Definitely download the Singapore Oceanarium app – it is handy for maps, learning, and even earning little rewards.
Some highlights from our visit:
- Singapore’s Coasts (Zone 6): I loved getting hands-on with different coral species and chatting with the super friendly staffs.
- Shark Tunnel (Zone 7): Walking through while sharks and fish glided all around us was breathtaking.
- The Open Ocean Tank (Zones 9 – 11): Honestly, I could have sat here all day just watching the marine life drift by – it was mesmerising.
- The Abyss (Zone 17): A mysterious, deep-sea vibe with creatures you would never see otherwise.
- Hallway of Hope (Zone 22): A perfect, uplifting finale to the journey.
Every turn reveals another massive tank or a surprising marine encounter. It is not just an aquarium – it is an experience.
