Chinese culture has always been closely tied to prosperity. During Chinese New Year especially, many people pray for good fortune and visit the God of Wealth (Cai Shen Ye). Even at temples like Thian Hock Keng, you will often find wishing wells where visitors toss a coin, ring a bell, and make a wish for health, wealth, or success.

But did you know there is a spot in Singapore where you can literally walk in circles to attract wealth—not in a temple, but in the heart of the city? Welcome to the Fountain of Wealth at Suntec City!
If you have not been to Suntec City before, here’s the lowdown. Located in the Marina Centre area, Suntec City combines a mega shopping mall, sleek office towers, and a convention centre. There are five towers in total, and right in the middle sits the dazzling Fountain of Wealth.
The design is rooted in feng shui principles and inspired by a mix of Geomancy, Yin-Yang, and the Hindu Mandala. Imagine a giant hand: the Convention Centre is the wrist, Towers 1 to 4 (each 45 storeys tall) are the fingers, Tower 5 (18 storeys) is the thumb, and the Fountain of Wealth sits like a golden ring in the palm. Pretty clever, right?

Recognised by the Guinness World Records in 1998 as the World’s Largest Fountain, this bronze beauty is a symbol of unity, harmony, and the endless cycle of life. The fountain’s circular ring is a massive 21 metres across, standing 13.8 metres high, and supported by four slanted bronze pillars.

I still remember my first visit years ago, when the Fountain wasn’t even open to the public. Back then, the area around it was empty, with no restaurants crowding the rim. These days, eateries surround the fountain, which makes it harder to view from the sides—a bit of a shame, but still worth a stop.
The real highlight? The Touch Water sessions. During the day, the fountain’s main jets are turned off so visitors can step onto a narrow boardwalk and approach the smaller fountain at the centre. A security guard will let groups in one at a time, so just join the queue and wait your turn.

Here’s how it works: place your right palm over the water, whisper your wish, then walk clockwise three times around the fountain. This ritual is said to channel positive ‘qi’ energy and seal your wish.
Touch Water session timings:
- 10 am – 12 pm
- 2 pm – 4 pm
- 6 pm – 7:30 pm

If you miss the day sessions, don’t worry—the fountain comes alive at night with a spectacular laser show from 8 pm to 9:30 pm. Picture water jets cascading 200 feet down to form a misty screen, while colourful laser beams dance across the spray in sync with music. It is one of those shows that feels both futuristic and magical.
So if you’re in the area, make sure to stop by the Fountain of Wealth – a place where art, culture, and prosperity meet in the heart of Singapore.
