Looking after our natural environment is to protect our most precious inheritance for our children. We always try and do our best to reduce, reuse and recycle. As technology has moved on very quickly, a lot of gadgets now come with built-in rechargeable batteries, but some industries, like toys and some electronic devices still require batteries to operate.
Being an environmentally concerned consumer, instead of buying normal batteries, why not get rechargeable batteries as they are much better for the environment? Rechargeable batteries help you save money as they can be used over and over, and you can reduce waste as fewer batteries need to be manufactured than single-use batteries. Improper disposal of single-use batteries can be bad news for the environment, while rechargeable batteries have less impact on global warming, air pollution, air acidification and water pollution.
Recently, I have received a range of nickel-metal hydride/NiMH rechargeable batteries along with a charger from HiQuick. These batteries are a great choice for most battery needs because they have excellent low self-discharge performance. This allows them to maintain over 80% capacity even after not being used for up to 3 years. They can be recharged over 1200 times, come ready to use straight from the pack and are suitable for all devices and uses.
This 4 slot rechargeable battery charger can quickly charge 1 to 4 AAA batteries in about 2 hours, and 1 to 4 AA batteries in about 3.5 hours. I charged the batteries before first use and they took less than 30 minutes as the batteries come ready to use with some power.
The LCD screen provides a convenient way to monitor the charging process and status. It is also equipped with multiple safety mechanisms, including short circuit protection, over-voltage protection, overcharge protection, and overheat protection to ensure the safety of your batteries.
It comes with a 1 metre USB power cord, which you can insert into any USB port for charging. This lightweight charger allows you to bring it anywhere you go.
This starter kit is not too expensive at all. For the additional upfront cost, you can enjoy them for a long time! Of course, it can be frustrating when you run out of batteries, so why not stock up on a pack of HiQuick 16 (consists of 8 AA & 8 AAA) or a pack of HiQuick 24 AAA? Do let your family know though so that they don’t accidentally recycle them!
For now, I can’t judge how long these batteries will last as it varies depending on the voltage and current of each device. However, you can use the following formula as a rough estimate: Battery Life = Battery Capacity (mAh)/Load Current (mA). The AA batteries are 2800mAh and the AAA batteries are 1000mAh.
All these products from HiQuick are available from Amazon, if you click on this and buy, we may earn a small commission but at no additional cost to you. Have you ever thought about using rechargeable batteries? Remember rechargeable batteries will save you money and save the environment!
