Top 5 Most Popular Wedding Flowers

7 March 2023 by Eileen

Flowers are a symbol of any celebration. This also applies to the wedding day: the selection of floral accompaniment is an important part of the preparation for the wedding ceremony, and the more thoughtful this preparation will be, the more beautiful and brighter the wedding will be.

A complete guide to popular wedding flowers Top 5 Most Popular Wedding Flowers

  1. Peonies

These flowers are the first things that come to mind for almost any bride. Many girls dream of having a wedding with peonies, but unfortunately, they are almost impossible to find in the cold season. Even during the short blooming period (April through June), they are quite expensive. But don’t despair. Just use peonies only for the bride’s bouquet and holiday table decorations.

Peonies are lush, delicate and elegant flowers. Peonies can be assembled as a mono bouquet or as a floral arrangement Flowwow with them, and either way, peonies will look great. They can be easily ordered in late spring, early summer.

  2. Roses

Many of you have probably guessed that there are many varieties of roses. And they are all quite different. For example, the larger, fluffy and multi-petal species are great for decorating a bridal bouquet or as the main accent of the decor – they are often used instead of the more expensive and rare peonies. But small bush ones add tenderness to any composition, but they are not the main element.

Rose is considered the undisputed world leader among wedding flowers. The rose, loved by poets and writers, is indispensable in wedding floristics, it fits any style, fits into any composition, and on its own, without any additions, looks great. The great Shakespeare dedicated his 54th sonnet to this flower, calling it “The Sweet Fragrance of Roses”.

  3. Anemones

As a rule, the choice in favour of anemones gives brides who love everything unusual and different. This is not surprising, because the wedding bouquet of anemones looks just magical! This flower has a diverse palette of colours: you can see different shades of petals, such as white, red, pink, purple and many others. That is why the anemone can be added to almost any wedding bouquet, combining it harmoniously with other flowers. Its large petals and rich, often dark, core make the bouquet very expressive and bright. Despite its external firmness, the wedding bouquet with anemones is considered quite capricious and fragile. These flowers do not like the heat, so most often brides choose them for winter weddings.

Tip: If you choose anemones for a summer wedding, try to keep the bouquet cool and away from direct sunlight. In the evening, you can put it in cold water with ice cubes to preserve the beauty of the flowers for a little longer.

  4. Ranunculus

Ranunculi come in a variety of colours. White representatives of this flower family are a manifestation of the desire to conquer. When flowers are used in a bridal bouquet, their meaning is slightly softened – here they symbolize mutuality, harmony of the two people entering into marriage. The white colour itself means purity, innocence, sincerity. If you want to emphasize a certain “holiness” of your marriage, give preference to white buttercups. In addition, the classic wedding composition with such flowers will go perfectly with any dress.

  5. Lilacs

Not only do they have an extremely delicate appearance, but they also smell amazing. So if you’re thinking of a spring wedding, lilacs can help you recreate the perfect atmosphere.

FAQ:

What are the most popular flowers used for weddings?

The most popular flowers for weddings are gorgeous roses, delicate daisies, fragrant lilies and lilies of the valley, cheerful tulips, peonies and chrysanthemums.

And also, as mentioned earlier, these are: anemones, ranunculus, lilacs

What flowers do all royal brides have?

In the bride’s floral arrangement, there is bound to be something else – namely, a sprig of myrtle. This is one of the royal traditions, without which the wedding, by Windsor standards, would be considered incomplete.

How many flowers do you need for a wedding?

Traditionally, bouquets are composed of an odd number of plants, bypassing the number 13. The exception is weddings in Western Europe. There, on the contrary, necessarily take into account the fact of the presence of a pair of each type of flower. Two flowers in this case symbolize the couple of the bride and groom.

Do not chase a large number of luxurious buds. On the one hand, the bouquet does look imposing, expensive. But for the bride, balance, light weight and convenience are important. It is better to focus on the form. And throwing a heavy bouquet in a crowd of bridesmaids is fraught with a lack of aesthetics.

What are the top five most popular flowers?

Roses are favourites of all times. They are as immortal as love. Perhaps that’s why flowers represent this beautiful feeling. Contrary to common opinion, it is not red roses that are popular, but pink and white roses. They are bought for loved ones, colleagues, girlfriends and business partners. In some cases, light-coloured buds are appropriate to present even to a man.

Modest tulips gained recognition due to the excitement on March 8.

Chrysanthemums have been loved for their resilience and endurance since Soviet times. Today, these qualities are also important for flowers, and the chrysanthemum has no equal in it. A fresh flower keeps its beauty for almost 25-28 days.

Alstroemeria – flowers of friendship became known for their companionship. They are effectively combined with roses and give them a slightly frivolous look.

Gerberas are loved for their brevity and colourfulness. If you need to create a bright accent in a bouquet, the florist will definitely add a gerbera.
