Be ready for hours of fun with your family and friends with this Mechanics Challenge Strike set by Geomag. First, you get to build your structure and then watch how the rotor spins the swinging magnetic rods knocking over the pins.
This awesome set comes with 185 pieces and is made up of two magnetic rods, 24 steel spheres, elements of different shapes, such as loops, cylinders and modular parts, and a playing board. It is suitable for ages eight and above, and for one to four players.
We are big fans of the Geomag sets and have previously reviewed many of their magnetic race track systems, loops & turns and challenge goal sets. We love how they always aim to create fun, educational sets to help us to learn about invisible forces, such as acceleration, magnetism, gravity, propulsion and friction. This set is even better. You can compete with yourself or your friends with this set, using the invisible forces of magnetism and gravity to knock off the pins.
All the pieces are finished to a high standard with no sharp edges. The colours are vibrant and the playing board is made from thick cardboard. Also, 90% of the materials are made from recycled plastic. It is Swiss made and all products are aligned with the most stringent European and international safety standards.
It comes with easy-to-follow colour instructions to help you to build the game and comes with plenty of extra materials for you to create your own design. It did not take us long to build as it is nice and straightforward.
This orange gravity motor does not require batteries to rotate, but by just feeding the spheres into the chute fast enough, it will speed up the rotor to spin the swinging magnetic rods to knock over the pins. The spheres will then exit through and land on the ball pit for collection.
Occasionally when you place the spheres too quickly, it will either cause the rotor to stop or become stuck below the Gravity Motor.
Once built, the game board takes up quite a lot of table space and it is best to play on a table or hard floor for better stability rather than on a carpet. To play the game, simply place the pins on top of the round bases inside the scoring circles. You can either follow the game rules via the instructions or set your own game rules. You can make it easy or challenging! You can also add more obstacles by using your previous Geomag sets.
Once you have finished playing with it, it is easy to dismantle and pack away. It also comes with a plastic box to keep all the spheres in situ. I used a strong plastic zip lock bag for keeping all the pieces in one place and placed them in the original box.
This is a fun set and we all love playing with it. As always, you can expand the tracks with other Geomag compatible sets to make it an awesome gaming obstacle. This set will make a fantastic gift for anyone! You can get it from Coolshop for £49.
