This year in the UK, Mother’s Day falls on the 27th March and it will be very different from the past two years, as there are no coronavirus restrictions in place! Whether you will be celebrating in person or not, there is always a special way to show your mother/aunty/step-mother/grandmother how much they mean to you through photo gifts.
Thanks to Boots Photo who are running this year’s campaign ‘Worth A Thousand Words’ and gave gifted me this opportunity to make these fantastic personalised gifts to my mother who lives in Singapore and my mother-in-law for this special day.
Since the lockdown happened, we have not travelled back to Singapore to visit my elderly mum. So I decided to fill this photo book with a lot of our family’s milestones and to include our new addition to the family. She is called Mabel and she has turned 4 years old recently. She is a buddy dog who came from the Guide Dogs Association and has helped us through this difficult time.
To make these soft cover photobooks, I have to download the software on my personal computer. It took me at least 10 minutes to download and run the software on my computer.
Making and filling the photo book with photos is pretty straightforward. Also, they provide a range of templates for me to choose from. I am not a very creative person and too lazy to start from scratch. So I used their template to start me off, then edited the colour of the wording, background and added a few quotes in it.
This is my first time making a photo book and I am overwhelmed by the choices. There are 8 different sizes to pick from: large portrait, large landscape, small landscape, pocket & small, square, XL square, XXL portrait and XXL landscape. I chose the large landscape size for my mum as the photos are blown bigger so she can see it more easily.
Once I selected the size, I had to select the paper quality and choose between hard or soft cover for the photo book. I picked gloss paper and a soft cover so that it’s easy and lighter to post overseas. Also, it won’t take too much space when it is stored. Once the photo book is filled, I saved the project and added it to the cart. I also used this opportunity to print two mugs, a set of greeting cards and plenty of photo prints for them. It has been a while since I update my photo frames! Once I am happy with my shopping cart, I can choose to pick up from any Boots shops or send it to my home. When it is paid, it will send the details over. During this time, it will take a while to upload and so it’s best not to disturb the process as it might not upload properly.
So these are my finalised items. The photobooks look amazing. The colour is very vibrant and the paper quality is great. I am impressed with it and would recommend it. Besides these personalised items, Boots photo also offers personalised puzzles, teddy bears, calendars, canvases and many more. If you are stuck for words, why not make personalised photo gifts to show your mother what she means to you!
