Who Wants To Be A Millionaire Board Game Review

8 November 2021 by Eileen

Who Wants To Be A Millionaire is a popular entertainment show currently hosted by Jeremy Clarkson. This brand new revamped ‘Who Wants To Be A Millionaire Board Game’ has digital lifelines and is available to buy now. This new edition gives you the chance to win a virtual £1 million and works with smart devices to access lifelines. Now you can play this game in the comfort of your own home with your family/friends up to six people or teams! This game is suitable for ages 14 and above.

Inside this box, it comes with a game board, six playing pieces, 24 answer tokens, 24 lifeline tokens and over 350 question cards (double-sided questions). It comes in a neat tray that displays the question cards in an orderly manner and with a middle tray to contain all the tokens and pieces. All the items are very well made and should last for a long time. This game will require you to have your smartphone/tablet to access lifelines. If you don’t have access to the internet, you can follow the lifeline rules on the instructions instead.

To set up the game, place the game board in the centre of the table and place the playing tokens at the bottom of the money tree. Each player/team will be given a matching A, B, C and D answer token, a safe haven token and four lifeline tokens. The safe havens act as safe spaces within the game and stop the player from dropping any further than that space after giving an incorrect answer. Each player/team chooses where they would like to place their safe haven token on the desired space on the board at the start of the game.

Choose a player to act as host for the first question and rotate being the host after each question. The host takes a card and reads it out. Make sure the host covers the back of the card as the answer is just behind it. All players, including the host, place their answer tokens face down on the final answer section of the board.

If a player doesn’t know the answer, they can choose to use a lifeline instead, like 50:50, Phone a Friend, Ask the Audience or Ask the Host. Once everyone has placed their answer token, the host flips the question card to reveal the correct answer. All correct answers move their playing token one space up the money tree. Players with incorrect answers fall back to the start position. This will continue until the first player reaches £1 million on the money tree and answers correctly. If there is no winner after 40 minutes of play, the player who is in the highest position on the money tree wins.

We find that this game is hard, challenging and fun to play. This is a great game to entertain guests with as a party game during the holiday season! Why not challenge your loved one this Christmas! Who Wants To Be A Millionaire Board Game by Ginger Fox Games is available from Smyths Toys, Amazon and good retailers.
