It is only recently that I was introduced to MECO Eleverde oral irrigator. To be honest, I didn’t know that such a product existed, except when you get your teeth cleaned at the dentist. I was fascinated with these features as it helps to deep clean, improve gum health, bad breath and is beneficial for orthodontic care.
Let’s be honest, I am not the type of person who likes to floss my teeth every day. It’s more like once or twice a month and my reel of dental floss usually lasts for ages! With this lockdown, I have not had a chance to visit the hygienist or get my teeth checked since last year. Anyway, I am so pleased to know that this product will help me get better oral hygiene! Note that water irrigators are not a replacement for dental flossing or brushing, but it helps to remove food particles from hard to reach areas.
This oral irrigator from MECO Eleverde comes with one periodontal tip to clean the gums and reduce gum problems, one orthodontic tip, four standard nozzles for daily cleaning (it can be used for a family of four), charger cable, storage bag and instructions.
For the first time, it is important to fully charge for four hours before use. There is no battery level indicator but it should last for 25 days. So far, it has been working well for me. The tips are easy to insert and to eject by pressing the top button.
As for the 300ml water tank, it took me a while to twist it off. It wasn’t hard but I kept accidentally pressing the buttons while twisting the water tank. One tip to use this is to fill the tank with lukewarm water and not cold tap water! I had filled it with fresh tap water and it was so cold! My gums went super sensitive while using it! Also, there is no need to remove the water tank each time you want to fill with water. You can fill it easily through the draining lid.
The functions on the irrigator are quite self-explanatory. There are five different dental flossing modes: low, medium, high, pulse and DIY. For a first time user, start with the low setting. I took a while to get used to the speed. I like the high pressure but it is far too quick for me and it got messy really quickly. My tip is to use it in the bathtub if you are not confident and to avoid spillage on the floor! I’m still not used to the button layout and have to take it out my mouth to know which button to press.
The low and medium pressures are good for cleaning sensitive teeth whilst the high pressure is for deep clean tooth plaque. The pulse function is to deep clean the teeth and massage the gums with 50-100PSI water pressure. As for the DIY, it is a custom cleaning mode with five water pressures (20-40-60-80-100PSI), and you can choose the cleaning mode that suits you according to your teeth by pressing on the power button for four seconds long to switch the mode. It has a memory function and it will remember the last setting you used.
This irrigator is IPX8 waterproof which can be submerged deeper than one meter. So it is safe to use it in the shower and to rinse off too.
So far, I’m quite enjoying using it as it is powerful and effective enough to remove food particles from hard to reach areas. The irrigator is easy and comfortable to hold, and good quality too. It is available to buy from Amazon. Currently, you can use the 10% off voucher plus 10% off by using this code: ESFHMECO at the checkout to get 20% off. It will expire on the 20 December 2020.
