Get A Grip Game Review

4 August 2017 by Eileen

Get A Grip is a new no thumbs challenge game from Hasbro Gaming. This game is to earn cards by completing challenges without using your fingers and thumbs. It suitable for aged eight and above. It is to be played with three persons.

This game comes with 4 ‘No Thumb’ bands, 2 tubs of sculpting clay, drawing pads, 60 challenge cards and instructions. This game will also require a timer, pens and some of the DO IT challenges requires additional items like 12 plastic or paper cups, 4 elastic bands, 2 pairs of shoes with laces, 2 button-up shirts, 2 zip-up jackets, 2 pillows with pillowcases, 2 coins of the same size, 2 resealable bags and a pad of sticky notes.

To play this game, first shuffle all the challenge cards together and place the deck face down in the centre of the table. Then decide how many fingers per hand you are allowed to use during challenges.

Take turns competing against each other. The youngest player goes first. Draw the top card from the challenge deck, read it aloud and pick an opponent. Place the bands on both hands and do the challenge. The winner keeps the challenge card and starts the next challenge by turning over the top card and picking an opponent. Keep playing until someone collects three cards.

There are three different types of challenges: Sculpt It, Draw It and Do It. The Sculpt It is to sculpt the clay and explain why yours is better than your opponent’s. The Draw It is to draw the item stated on the card. The drawing that best matches the image wins. The Do It is to do the task given on the card.

This game is a lot of fun! I love that we have to be imaginative and be creative. We all enjoyed doing all the challenges, though younger children might struggle to complete in the target time. Of course, we always allow some leeway for younger children. This Get A Grip is a great party game. It is available in good toy retailers.
