Dobble Kids Review

6 February 2015 by Eileen

Dobble Kids is a 5 in 1 family card game for 2 – 5 players for aged 4 and above. It consists of 30 cards, with 6 animals per card. The cards are thin and easy to hold. The animals come in various sizes making it quite hard to spot at times, especially the smaller ones, which makes this game so interesting! There are 30 different animals to spot!

dobble kids review

In Dobble kids, players compete with each other to find the one matching animals between one card and another. Every card is unique and has only one animal in common with any other card in the deck. The match can be difficult to spot as the size and positioning of the symbols can vary on each card. Once a player finds the match, they shout it out before other players and either takes the card or places it somewhere else, depending on which mini-game they are playing.

Dobble has 5 mini-games:

  • Hide and Seek
  • The Five-fingers of a hand
  • The Tower of Doom
  • The Well
  • The Unwelcomed Gift

The mini games are incredibly easy to play. Players must have a keen eye and lightning reactions in order to be the first to spot the matching symbols. We played this over the weekend and all kids were so excited playing it. We had to calm them down and hold them back from blocking each others view. Everyone was so eager to win the game.

As the game is based on reactions and visual perception, rather than knowledge or strategy, it makes a great fun family game. The size of animal pictures are comfortable for my daughter who has mild blindness to spot but at a slower pace.

The deck of cards comes well protected inside a small circular tin to keep them safe and makes Dobble Kids the perfect travel game you can take anywhere as it fits in your pocket! Even though the mini games are quick to complete, it is fun and keeps the children wanting to play more!

This game can be purchased at all good toy stores. For more information visit Esdevium Games website.
