Yesterday evening Mumsnet and their special guest, Helen McGinn, blogger and author of The Knackered Mother’s Wine Club, lead us through a wine-tasting. I was fortunate to win a bottle of Tesco Finest New Zealand Pinot Noir 2011 to join the very first Mumsnet Twitter Party, which was all about wine and wine-tasting.
It began at 8.30pm on 22 March on Twitter. Firstly, Helen explained exactly how to taste wine, and ask for our thoughts on the aroma, taste, texture and more of our chosen wine. If you would like to read more, please take a look at Helen McGinn’s Twitter account. At around 9pm, Helen answered some of the followers wine-related questions until 9.30pm.
This is my review of this wine:
I invited a couple of friends to join me to taste this bottle of wine with a takeaway curry, which turned out to be a really great food to have with the wine. I agree with the bottle’s description of “aromas of dark cherry with a subtle hint of white pepper” – the cherries came through in abundance for me and the hint of pepper gave it a well rounded flavour. All in all, we had a great night and the wine was the ‘cherry’ on top!
Disclosure: I had won this bottle of wine to join this Twitter party.
