How to Decorate Your Kid’s Playroom?

15 February 2021 by Eileen Leave a Comment

A playroom is one such area of the house where the children are allowed to run loose and indulge in their own sense of fun. It is therefore important that this space is made as colorful and imaginative as possible to satisfy the needs of the toddlers.

How to Decorate Your Kid's Playroom

Here are some fantastic ideas that will inspire you to create a playroom that your kids will love to spend time in.

Have ample storage space

When planning a playroom, the workspace should be factored. This could be for doing homework, hobbies or other nursery ideas. Floating shelves, cupboards or even a corner can be put to good use if much room is not available. Another solution is to use a trolley on wheels to store the stationery and supplies.

Be imaginative with the decor

Once the basics have been attended to,it is now time to infuse your child’s personality into the furnishings and interior decor of the play zone. A new coat of paint is a time-tested theme which will give a boyish uplift instantly.

Factor in the flooring

Children use the floor for playing with their toy cars and trucks for hours on end. Encourage your children to utilise their imagination by installing a vinyl flooring. This will provide them with a flexible and vibrant surface to exhaust all their pent up frolicking plans, till they are well in their teens.

Use stand-out features

If the walls of the room are plain, adding a decorative feature to one of them could provide a much-needed burst of color which can survive even when the child gets older. A wall-paper or a large sticker with birds or animal themes, will not only infuse a playful theme but will also encourage them to get up close to nature.

Install a unique bed

To make your child’s den a lot more creative, try adding a funky piece of furniture like a tent or a timber cabin-bed structure for an adventurous look. Add a quirky colored mattress and some bean bags for the young ones to chill-out on.

Plan a cosy reading place

Reading plays an important role in the child’s development, so providing their playroom with ample space to practice this educational work is vital. Choose a well-lit corner and stack it with a lot of books. Make the space inviting with soft cushions, a cuddly toy or bean bags. If your child has just begun reading, place some wooden letters of the alphabet on the shelves to help them with the extra help needed to identify the letters.

Make it memorable

Make your children’s area where they love to spend most of the time inviting and memorable for them by displaying some of their artwork. Select a corner from where these treasured works can be shown off easily. Place a table under them to make them readily accessible to the younger ones. Adding a built-in shelf will provide a perfect storage areas for the supplies and other related material.
