Don’t Be a Donkey Game Review

21 July 2017 by Eileen Leave a Comment

Don’t Be a Donkey is the fast-paced card swapping, carrot grabbing game that will be loved by all ages! It is suitable for aged four and upwards and can be played with two to four players. It comes with 4 headbands with ears, 3 carrots, a nose, 16 cards and instructions. It requires minimal assembly.

dont be a donkey game review

The aim of this game is don’t be a donkey! Before you start the game, each player puts on a headband with both ears flipped down. Keep the donkey nose within reach. This game is best to play with all four players but if there are less, remove any sets of cards according to the number of players.

dont be a donkey cardsBefore you start the game, shuffle the cards and distribute the cards equally among the players. Choose one card from your hand to give to another player and put it face down on the table to your right. All other players do the same. The dealer shouts “Pass”, lets go of the card to your right and takes the card that is now on the table to your left. Once you get a full house of matching donkey cards, shout ‘Donkey’ then be fast enough to grab one of the available carrots. If you are too slow to grab a carrot, you lose the round and flip up one of your ears. The third time you lose the game, take the nose and put it on yourself.

dont be a donkeyThe concept of this game is very simple and straightforward. You have to be alert and quick fingered to win this game. We all enjoy playing it. I do find that the headbands are too small for our heads and it can get quite uncomfortable. Often the headbands will drop and move as well. Nevertheless, this is a fun game for the whole family. It is available to buy in good toy retailers and Amazon. Have you seen my review for Mr Bucket and Giggle Wiggle games’ review yet? Do check them out!
