Last week, we enjoyed an hour of extra sleep and at the same time, we also had an extra-long night in together. We all love a lazy Sunday and we like to spend it by watching a film. So, last Sunday, we had a perfect Mexican feast watching family-friendly film Spirited Away. Spirited Away is one of my favourite Japanese cartoon movies and there’s always a sense of nostalgia whenever I introduce my children to the movies I used to watch.
Santa Maria (previously known as Discovery Foods) had kindly sent me their fajita kit to enjoy a quick and easy family night in. Inside this fantastic box, there were two flavours of fajita seasoning mix packets – hot and mild, a jar of green jalapenos, a bottle of soured cream topping, a bottle of salsa, onion & garlic dip, a packet of nacho rolls and their plain soft tortillas.
There are just a few ingredients required to make fajitas (bell peppers, chicken thighs and onion) and cooking it is very easy and simple. Coat the sliced chicken in oil and seasoning mix. Heat up the wok with oil and add the chicken, onion and peppers. Once cooked, serve it with warm tortillas, salsa, soured cream and jalapenos and roll it up. I love how quick and easy it is to cook this by using their step-by-step instructions. Dinner was ready within 10 minutes. To warm the 8 tortillas, just pop them into the microwave for 45 seconds.
I had used the mild seasoning mix for my children while we adults used the hot mix with added jalapenos! Mr K took it very well and ate two fajita wraps. Ms C enjoyed hers with no added soured cream. As for us adults, it was scrumptious! The chicken is flavoursome which wrapped up with the super soft and moist tortillas. The soured cream adds a delicious balance to the tasty chicken and takes the taste to another level. It is awesome. I would highly recommend this and I would definitely buy it again.
It was a great night in with fajitas and watching ten-year-old Chihiro’s parents turned into pigs amused my children a lot! This movie is about Chihiro’s adventure while moving to a new neighbourhood, she enters into the spirit world. After her parents are transformed into pigs by the witch Yubaba, she took a job working in Yubaba’s bathhouse to find a way to free herself and her parents and return to the human world. This is quite a strange adventure movie. We all enjoyed watching it. Thanks to Santa Maria!
