Scooby-Doo! Adventures: The Mystery Map

18 October 2013 by Eileen 4 Comments

Currently if you pop out to the shops, there are Halloween decorations everywhere. Besides getting pumpkins and scary costumes, why not get a copy of Scooby-Doo! Adventures: The Mystery Map to entertain the children too.  It is available from 21st October 2013.
We were fortunate to get a copy to watch first hand.  Both of my children have made the progression from short regular children’s TV to enjoying longer movies too.  So after a day of hard work at school, they were treated to watch this DVD.  As they had watched Scooby-Doo before, they both knew what to expect from the show.
This movie tells the story of the new-look Scooby and the gang as they embark on a mad, pizza-fuelled dash to find pirate Gnarlybeard’s hidden treasure in new puppet format.
This is an interesting variation to the animated hand-drawn/computer generated cartoons as it’s all done with puppets.  Both children were laughing and giggling each time Scooby-Doo and Fred were confronted with chilling obstacles along the way and found that the map was stolen by the frightening Phantom Parrot.  The gang track down the mysterious bird to recover the map to reach the spooky ship.
Our verdict is that it’s funny rather than scary.  The puppet animation looks great and the storyline is very easy to follow and understand by children.  The movie is only 43 minutes long which is a nice length to watch.  They were totally engrossed in the show!  I give this 5 stars out of 5.
Disclosure: We have received this DVD to do an honest review.
