Damart Black Dress Review

21 August 2013 by Eileen 6 Comments

The lovely people from Damart have kindly sent me this gorgeous black empire line maxi dress in a soft stretchy jersey.  If you have not heard about Damart, they are a small family business with British heritage that has grown into a warmly thought of global brand name.  Their range includes: Thermal Clothing, Ladieswear, Menswear, Household, Footwear plus their innovation ranges of: Thermolactyl, Lineastyl, Amortyl, Perfect Fit.

I am very pleased with the quality of the dress.  It is very soft, stretchy and comfortable to wear.  The dress is made from 95% Viscose and 5% Elastane.  It comes with a flattering wrapover front, gathering into the skirt which is about 127 cm.  I am only 158 cm tall and the dress length falls above my ankle which is the right length for me.  It also comes with a wide wearable strap which makes the dress look unique from other maxi dresses.  It also covers my bra straps nicely.  I accessorised it with a beige colour belt and pearl necklace.

I ordered a size 18 and it fits me very well.  It is always good to know that their sizes follows the normal clothing chart.
The only problem I had was the wrapover front which is a bit low for me as I am not very busty.  I will have to stitch the wrapover to stop me from exposing my bra.   This is not troublesome at all as I tend to have to do this with a number of my dresses anyway.
After wearing it for a day, I did a 30 degree machine wash.  The dress did not shrink and there was no detectable loss of colour.  Overall I am very happy with the quality and the value of the dress.
Disclosure: I was given this dress to do an honest review.
