Yesterday was our 6th wedding anniversary, so we decided to go out to a family friendly pub to have a meal. When we went to Harvester Bassetts Pole (Sutton Coldfield), they were so packed there was a 40 minutes wait. My husband decided to drive down to Harvester Centrum (Burton upon Trent) to see if it less busy.
We waited for 5 minutes before someone greeted us and asked us to wait at the bar. After reminding the staff we were still waiting, we were sat down in 15 minutes. While ordering our food, the waiter then tells us that they didn’t have gammon, burgers, rump steak and jacket potatoes from the dinner menu and we found out the salad bar didn’t have bread and bread sticks. Not surprisingly they did have plenty of butter though.
Around 7pm, they probably had enough complaints about the lack of some of their foods, they stuck a poster up at the door explaining the foods they had run out of.
After our dinner, we then found out there was no ice cream which is basically most of the dessert menu. I just laughed out loud at that point when the waiter offered us jelly.
I really can’t believe that such a reputable establishment can run out of so much food. Weekends must be their busiest periods and they should have it well stocked. Last but not least, they should have told us as we entered. My son was extremely disappointed as we had promised him ice cream. We left the pub feeling extremely dissatisfied!
So I took my complaint to Harvester Facebook and this is their reply:
Harvester Hi Eileen, we are sorry about this. Due to being much busier than forecast over the weekend, we did run out of a few items. The good news is that we do have it back in now and we do hope to see you again soon.
My reply to them: Not in a million years. You have just ruin our anniversary meal.
